Since graduating from All Saints’ College in 2024, Aaron Ooi has been steadily forging a path in the world of music. Early in 2025, he studied jazz piano at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), while also teaching violin and piano through private lessons. Based in Perth at the time, Aaron immersed himself in the local music scene, performing at gigs and offering music instruction.

In September, he took a major step in his musical journey by relocating to Valencia, Spain to pursue studies in music performance and production at the Berklee College of Music. While adjusting to a new culture and navigating the language barrier presented initial challenges, Aaron quickly discovered that Valencia had a thriving creative community. As time passed, opportunities for gigs, commissions and musical collaborations began to unfold, reinforcing his place in the city’s vibrant music landscape.

One of Aaron’s proudest achievements was earning his Licentiate of Music Australia (LMusA) in violin, an impressive milestone he reached during the intense final exam period of his final school year. More recently, he was awarded a piano scholarship to Berklee where he’s currently completing the first year of his studies. He plans to continue the program in Boston over the next three years with the goal of majoring in Music Production and Engineering. His ambition is to work in studios, producing music and honing his craft in audio engineering.

Outside his academic commitments, Aaron says that he likes to make the most of his time in Valencia. “My weekends often begin with practice sessions on campus and end with relaxed afternoons at the beach, playing volleyball with friends or taking a dip in the Mediterranean”.

Reflecting on his time at All Saints’ College, one memory that holds particular significance to Aaron is the Colonnade farewell day. “Walking through the arches of students and staff felt like crossing the finish line of a long, meaningful journey. It made me feel very grateful for being at the College and it was an incredible ending to the academic year.” says Aaron.

Well done on your wonderful achievements so far, Aaron!
