Creating Change Through Courage and Advocacy

Congratulations to Tanesha Bennell (Class of 2018) on being named a finalist for the Mission Australia Young Changemaker Award at the 2026 WA Youth Awards.

A proud queer yorga, Tanesha is dedicated to creating safer and more inclusive spaces for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander LGBTIQA+ people through their work with Rainbow Futures WA and WAAC. They are also the co-founder of Boorloo Justice, leading community-driven initiatives focused on First Nations justice, culture and LGBTQIA+ inclusion.

Tanesha's leadership and advocacy have made a meaningful impact across our community, including their involvement in organising Perth's 2020 Black Lives Matter protest, demonstrating courage and commitment to social justice at a pivotal moment in Australia's history.

We are incredibly proud to see Tanesha recognised among Western Australia's outstanding young changemakers and look forward to seeing the impact they continue to make in the years ahead.
